About TradeDoc Preflight

ShipPreflight hosts TradeDoc Preflight, a browser-based beta for comparing commercial invoices, packing lists and bills of lading. It highlights differences in identifiers, quantities, packages and weights, plus fields that were not extracted.

How checks work

Searchable PDF text is read first. Scanned PDFs use English OCR as a fallback. Deterministic rules compare the extracted fields. The application shows source values and available snippets so you can check each warning against the original document.

What the result means

The 0–100 score is an internal heuristic based on issue severity and available extraction confidence. It is not an accuracy percentage, shipment approval, or customs risk assessment. A high score does not establish that documents are genuine, complete or legally compliant.

The sample is fictional and does not analyze your files. An invoice and packing list without a B/L produce a limited preflight; B/L checks are skipped. Extraction can miss fields, misread numbers or infer the wrong document type. OCR is currently English only. Each PDF is limited to 30 pages.

Number formats

Automatic numeric comparisons support a decimal point and optional comma groups of three digits, such as 1234.50 or 1,234.50. Decimal commas, malformed grouping and unreadable values require manual review; the checker does not guess the intended locale. Verify the raw source value and unit. Unsupported quantity units also need review.

If the detected document type differs from its selected slot, the file is flagged and excluded from dependent comparisons. The report distinguishes files read from correctly assigned documents; the extracted source remains visible for review. A readiness score is unavailable when no document is correctly assigned.

Human review

Verify all important fields with the source documents, booking and commercial agreement. Use a qualified freight forwarder, customs broker or adviser for shipment decisions. This beta has no verified enterprise access, retention or audit controls; start with synthetic or redacted files.
